The leading international trade fair BioFach has become one of the most important dates in the business calendar for French organic producers. 106 exhibitors will gather from 15 to 18 February 2012 on over 1100 m² in the Pavillon France (picture) to once again prove their expertise in creative, delightful organic products. “The German market is of great importance to the organic sector”, explained Sylvain Rouchy, Managing Director of Sopexa S.A, Germany/Switzerland/Austria. “Therefore, we place great value on giving customers a true experience of French products in all their variety at the BioFach.” Thus, there will be tastings and culinary shows (picture right below) throughout the duration of the trade fair, while visitors to Hall 1 Booth 1-410a will be taken on a culinary journey through the range of products on offer from French exhibitors by chef Nicolas Bonfils.

The many innovations in store for customers from French producers are evidence of their wealth of ideas. The signs this year are unequivocally sweet. Around half of the exhibitors in the Pavillon France will be presenting new sweet creations – from solid to liquid and chocolatey to fruity (e.g. Chocolats Saveurs Et Nature, Les Amis de Juliet, Maison Meneau, Miels Villeneuve).

Indulgent pleasure is highly rated by the French. French organic producers are hoping to have something for everyone at the trade fair, including those who have to be careful about what they eat due to allergies or food intolerances. Therefore, many exhibitors have added new gluten-free or lactose-free product variants to their ranges (e.g. Chocolat Dardenne, Lou Bio, Euro-Nat, Celtic-Moulin des Moines).

Algae are another trend this year. This green marine plant contains a multitude of vitamins, minerals, trace elements and fibre in significantly higher concentrations than fruit or vegetables. Whether raw, as part of a salad or in cooking – some French exhibitors are using this prized treasure from their extensive coastline to create specialities that are as healthy as they are tasty (e.g. Algue Service, Aqua-B, Nature Et Aliments).

Other new creations that are anything but “meek as a lamb” include a cream cheese from sheep’s milk from the famous Roquefort region and a typical North African lamb tajine with dried fruits (Fromageries Papillon, Sageco).
