The 4th International Conference on the Organic Sector Development in Central/Eastern European and Central Asian countries will take place in Izmir, Turkey from 13 to 14 April 2012. Excursions will take place on 12 and 15 April 2012. The conference will take place parallel to the organic trade fair Ecology Izmir in Izmir, Turkey.
This year’s conference will focus on organic farming and how to maintain and improve its integrity. Quality assurance in production, processing and trade, residue monitoring, anti-fraud activities, traceability as well as education and training regarding these issues will be conference themes. As Turkey is one of the leading organic cotton and textile producers, sustainable textiles will be included in the conference.
The conference will present practical and scientific knowledge and allow exchange of experiences among practitioners in the fields of Black Sea and Mediterranean organic products like hazelnuts, seedless raisins, figs and apricots, grain, rice and seed production, animal husbandry, cotton growing and wild collection. It will broaden participants’ understanding of quality issues and aims at bridging obstacles from production throughout the value chain to companies having to cope with consumers concerns.
Proposals to become a speaker at the conference are welcome. The call for contributions is open until 10 February 2012. Speakers will be notified until 2 March. Full papers must then be submitted until 9 March 2012. Early bird registration is possible until 29 February 2012.
