Chief Executive Officer of Bio-organics Nutrient Systems Limited, Dr. Kenny Uzoma Acholonu, has urged government to make a conducive platform for more bio-organic companies to come up in Nigeria as this will help create jobs.

According to him, the chances of job creation will be jeopardised, if the environment is not conducive for bio-organic companies to spring up and provide jobs and high quality products in Nigeria.

“Government needs to support them to produce high wage jobs, save foreign exchange, gain science and technology visibility and helping to build country’s capacity. Similar domesticated technology should come as a as a natural evolution from Bio-organics. There should be many companies like Bio-organics, providing jobs and high quality products. If we don’t help in these areas, the chances of job creation will be jeopardised” he stated.

Furthermore, he said, we are in a knowledge economy where scientific knowledge capital is more important than financial capital. And that if transformation agenda does not carry along with it a strong industrial policy such as supporting companies that meet industrial standards, it would be incomplete. This should be done not for Bio-organics only but for others. These should be in various parts of Nigeria.

The agenda has to build credible institutions with supporting human capital to drive the agenda forward. “You can’t produce one kilogramme of chicken without the 13 vitamins. It becomes important to recognise companies like Bio-organicis in the value chains. You cannot produce in modern industrial scale without vitamins.

You cannot do that without adequate micronutrients. Helping many science and technology based companies to grow will create more jobs and higher wages (this is an idea stated, not a direct quote). If we keep importing premixes, we will never move forward,” he said.
