"Label It Now – What You Need to Know About Genetically Engineered Foods" is a new e-book written by Gary Hirshberg (CEO, Stonyfield); Britt Lundgren (Director of Organic and Sustainable Agriculture, Stonyfield); and Charles Benbrook (Chief Scientist at the Organic Center). The e-book cuts through the scientific debate about genetically modified food to put forth a simple premise: We all have a right to know what’s in our food, Stonyfield Organic reports . The Just Label It campaign’s aim is to have genetically engineered food labelled in the USA. It is estimated that 60 %-70 % of processed foods available in grocery stores in the USA is likely contain some GE material at this point of time. The majority of the livestock (with the exception of USDA certified organic livestock or Non-GMO Project Verified) that Americans consume have been raised on genetically engineered grains, according to the Just Label it campaign. Most of North Americans - an estimated 90 % - want the products to be labelled when containing GM material. To support the campaign, Food, Inc. filmmaker Robert Kenner has made a new video, which is also available at the Just Label It website.
