Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver will stir things up in local kitchens when he starts his Australian tour on March 3. After much anticipation, the larrikin British chef announced that he will land on Australian shores the first week in March and visit three states, starting in Queensland, as part of his war on fast food.

Oliver will start his five-day tour by inspecting the work of his Ministry of Food mobile kitchens in Logan and Ipswich. The cooking classroom on wheels, co-funded by the Queensland government, aims to teach people how to make fresh, healthy meals.

While in Queensland, Oliver will meet all who have been involved in his Ministry of Food Australia cause. "The mobile kitchen will visit local government areas where councils are determined to build healthier communities, and Logan fits that bill," says Ministry of Food Australia director Alicia Pearson.

"We look for areas with large populations, also with a lot of young families," she told AAP last month. She said that Oliver's food philosophy was a central part of the courses, and his visit would reinforce his message.

His first Australian visit since 2010 will take in three states and encompass each of his Australian entities such as Jamie's Ministry of Food Australia and the newly opened Jamie's Italian Restaurant in Sydney.

The restaurant showcases Oliver's love of Italian food with an inspired menu that showcases some of Australia's highest quality, well sourced and organic ingredients.

He will also chinwag with "The Good Guys" which is a partner for the Ministry of Food, relevant government officials, staff, volunteers and all who have thus far supported the Ministry of Food cause.

The tour will take place across Brisbane, then onto Sydney for two days then finishing off in Melbourne. Public appearances are yet to be announced.
